Pet Challenge Submission

here you go :) this guy's name is Bruno, he is one of two new kittens in the family.

My New Baby!

sorry i haven't posted in a few weeks.

so this is my new instrument, a viola. I am currently learning how to read alto clef (and how to not get it confused with treble clef), so I can play viola in the 2008-2009 school year. This is the first picture I have taken of it, and i'm sorry that it's dark but unfortunately, the sun has gone down already. I will try and take another tomorrow or sometime when I have more available light. The natural light will also bring out the color of the wood more. this is completely unedited, as I have not installed photoshop on my computer since it crashed and I had to reformat my hard drive.

Motion City Soundtrack Concert (!)

This is Justin Pierre and he is my hero. Seriously. He got over his addiction and is going strong, and I want to be just like him.
This is the only okay shot I got of all of the boys. From Left: Josh Cain (guitar), Jesse Johnson (MOOG), youcanbarelyseehim Tony Thaxton (drums), Justin Pierre (lead vocals/guitar) and Matt Taylor (bass).

Lake Wenatchee

This was taken down at our beach. There was this giant log there, and at the end of it there was this giant mass of tangled, dried up tree roots- which it what you're seeing. It was actually really cool.

Here is a crooked tree down at the beach at sunset. sorry for lens flare. I just couldn't get the tree in the picture without it.

Look what I found, Steve. I just knew dumpsters existed in state parks.

Macro Challenge

Well, here you have it. The first known entry to this week's challenge. Interesting story behind this photo. My mom went to Target this afternoon, and found a bag of sparkly pom-poms that she thought Flipper would like as toys. There were 60 in the bag(more than enough for my cat). So I took a few and put them in a glass of water. I then made a very crude setup using a clamp-on light, a windowsill to clamp it on, two sheets of paper, and my pom-pom/water combo. Hope you like it.

Brand New Kid

look at the baby! I don't know if it is a boy or a girl. But it was born today.

Look at how small it is! That big goat with it's mouth open is its mommy- Haha, her name is Mama Goat. The photogenic one :)

This is my bud Sherman. He's my favorite goat out of all of them. He got upset with me for paying attention to the baby, so he ran out to the bushes and ate. He's my favorite because he looks at me like he loves me, and because when I squat down to be at eye level with the goats, he puts his head on my shoulder and breathes in my ear. It's sweet :)

Glowing Glasses

Kay

Me

Uncle Steve

Creative title, I know. But they are what they are- glowing glasses! My cousin ran to the dollar store across the street when we were in Grand Coulee, and bought these. I think they're fantastic. :) (this is just for fun) (I realize I look slightly cross-eyed in my picture)

Fire!

every year, there is at least one idiot who decides that it's a good idea to set off fireworks during the driest month of the year. In the driest part of the state. In the foothills near the dam- which happens to provide energy to a large portion of our area.

This year it ended in a fire up in the hills. It was very exciting. It took about 15 minutes for firefighters to get up to the spot, and about 30 minutes for them to put it out/stop all the flareups. Pretty cool? No.

Challenge Picture

Eh. I didn't really take any that I was like, "Whoa, that needs to be entered in this challenge IMMEDIATELY." But I like this one- it was part of the grand finale, which was epic and LOUD. After this, we walked around Grand Coulee, waiting for traffic to die down. Now i'm back home in Renton, and guess what! It's raining. I'll post more fireworks pictures and pictures of the fire that happened in the foothills later tonight.

4th of July

Good morning, everyone! The morning after Independence Day leaves me quite groggy. Eh. But here's a picture to entice you, until I pick/edit/post the one for the contest. Which will be much later tonight- I'm leaving here at 11 am, getting home by 2, then a birthday party from 3-5. So, check back this evening.

A heart! :]

Sweet Annabel Rose

Here's the puppy, Annabel/Annie. This was before I washed her face. :)

The big dog is Sophie, and the baby is Annie. They look exactly alike, although they won't when she gets older... Annie is a pembroke corgi mix.

First Vacation

My first vacation of the summer was very relaxing until the part where we came home early-
although I am enjoying my day home, free of travel.

First stop- Ferry dock at Pier 52, Seattle to Bremerton. My stepdad and I got out the lawn chairs and sat out in the sun, waiting for close to 2 hours for our ferry to come. Then the ferry ride, which went very quickly due to my book and cell phone. We got off at Bremerton, and drove an hour or so to Kala Point, which is the gated community my grandparents' condo is in. I didn't actually go down to the beach this time around, but we went swimming almost as soon as we got there which was refreshing.

The next day, we got up bright and early to go to Hurricane Ridge. Hurricane Ridge is a part of Olympic National Park.

It was beautiful up there, and it was the first time I got to play with snow in 80 degree weather. While wearing shorts.

I took this one at about 8:30 on our way back from Hurricane Ridge. My stepdad took me down this road to see an amazing/corny/creepy house, and I took this at the turnaround. It was beautiful... and so quiet down there, except for these two kids who were sitting on the bank. They thought they were being quiet but i heard them say "why is she taking a picture?" :)

Paraglider

this was from my hike on tuesday. A dad and his daughter were trying to get their chute up so they could run off a mountain. You can kind of get a sense of how large the chute was- but this one was made for two people, so the normal ones aren't as big.

Pu Pu Point / My Daddy's Got New Kids

This is Mama Goat (yes, that's her name). She was one of the original four goats my father purchased to eat our backyard, now there are nine. She's not my favorite, but she's definitely the most photogenic.

Today I hiked Tiger Mountain with my step sisters and my stepdad. At the very top, there is a paragliding launch pad. The paragliders have to wait for the sun to be out, or else there isn't enough heat to keep their chutes up. These three quickly left the launchpad, because there were a lot of clouds and they needed to get out almost one after the other before the sun left again. You can also kind of see in the background the city of Issaquah, and Lake Sammamish.
There is another meadow a ways down from the top, where the paragliders launch from if the wind is going a different direction. Don't ask me which direction, though, because i definitely couldn't tell you. But there are buttercups in that one, and i took a picture of one! I know, more flower pictures... but this is probably one of my favorite flower pictures i have taken.

To Grandmother's House We Go

For the first weekend of summer, I went to my grandmother's house. The above picture was taken on her dresser. She uses a mirror to hold her jewelry and perfumes, so i took a picture of it. :)

these are more of the wild daisies from last summer. unfortunately, my grandfather mowed down the majority of their meadow, so we just have a few spots left.

A Sweet Treat

So, about a month ago, I went to dinner with a friend of mine, and afterward we went to this cute little cafe that we discovered Downtown. They serve coffee and cupcakes, and that's it. We spent a good hour talking, up until the store closed. Before I could eat my cupcake, I just had to take a picture of it. I was also curious as to how the "food" setting on my camera changed the way the picture looked. So here is my Almond Angel cupcake. It was very delicious :)

Sunday Afternoons

today my 'family' went to Lincoln Park in West Seattle. This picture I took when Alyssa was going across the monkey bars.

This is Amelia waiting in line for a rope swing. The kids obviously didn't think she fit in very well...

Alyssa took this picture while Amelia and I were on the swings. I thought it was cool, so even though I didn't take it, I'm still posting it.

Dick's Drive-in

Dick's Drive-in is one of the most famous eateries in Seattle. If you ever come here, GO THERE. They have probably less than 20 items on the menu, but what they do have is great. Get a bacon cheeseburger, they're the best (mind you, this is coming from a vegetarian).

My cousin Zak had a plain cheeseburger and a chocolate ice cream. So i took a picture of it. Nothing too amazing. :)

Ethan

This is my cousin Ethan.

...let me rephrase. The one on top is my cousin, Ethan. He is four years old and has a twin brother. The shoulders he's sitting on are my Uncle Steve's. This was at Pike Place Market, which is where we took the kids to keep them awake after their 36 hours of travel from Japan. Ethan was enthralled with street performers when I took this picture. I messed with it in photoshop a bit.

playground

This was taken last August at a small park in my old neighborhood. Cherina was playing underneath the playset, so I climbed on top and took this picture. Sorry for no recent photos. I haven't gotten out at all. :)

Lazy Tuesday?

"Wake up in the late afternoon / call Parnell just to see how he's doin'. "

This is the famous Flipper, taking a cat nap on our couch. All of the other pictures I tried to take of him, his eyes were seriously squinted shut (because of the flash - and no, I couldn't take this without the flash, it was too dark in the room I was in), so I waited until he was sleeping. And voila, here is my picture, his eyes are squinted because he's sleeping, not because of the flash... I promise :)

In Rainbows

This is Sarah, she's in my photography class. We were messing around outside on the Thursday before break, and this picture showed up with a rainbow in it. Unedited. Another one not expecting any constructive comments. Just looked cool!

I had a vertical version of this up for about 2 hours, but it didn't look as cool. :)

YMCA Transformers Style

at a sleepover i went to on wednesday night (the star wars marathon one), my friend was cleaning her room before we started the movies. She works at target, and when they discontinued the sales of the transformers gift cards, she brought about 30 home. This is one of many things we attempted to make the transformers do, among others were: Tranformers pyramid, spelling each of our names (Laura, Callie, & Bree), and trying to scare Bree's waterbug, Chino.

This one is just for fun. I'm not expecting any critique :)

Poor Link!

This is Link. He is not even a year old, and he got scared by a dog this afternoon! In his feline instincts, he ran, oh, about 20 feet up a tree. The cat rescue charges $100 to get him out of the tree, but they also said that they've never had a cat die in a tree. His owner, my friend Alyssa, left a bowl of food at the base of the tree, and the garage door open a bit so that he could get inside sometime today. It's dark now, I hope he came down!

Kitty

Emily's kitty friend. she's 18, I don't know her name. :) She hid under a table in the store; I had to search for like, 5 minutes to find her.

Port Townsend & Canada Part II

This one made me laugh. It was in a military antique store in Canada.

A rock. Covered in seaweed. I don't know, I thought it looked cool.

This is a sculpture outside of a curio shop in Port Townsend. Her name is Emily, as you can see on her tag.

This is the real life Emily, she's about 13 years old, and a total sweetheart. I spent most of my time visiting with her and her "sister." A cat. :)
